Alice Coltrane made *Ptah, the El Daoud* for Impulse! in 1970. Pharoah Sanders and Joe Henderson play the saxophones, one in each channel, and Alice Coltrane plays piano and harp. The music is modal and slow, and it is one of the central records of spiritual jazz.
Alice Coltrane was an American pianist, harpist and composer. She played with John Coltrane, and after his death she made a long line of records under her own name for Impulse! and later for Warner Bros.
Cerrone is a French drummer and producer. He made a numbered series of disco albums from 1976, and his records were as large in the United States as in Europe.
Genoa Keawe was a Hawaiian singer. She sang in the traditional falsetto style, and she recorded and performed in Honolulu over many decades.
